When the dark is the thickest
Do you ever ask yourself,
why parents always teach kids
to watch their step?
Always, be careful,
always watch out,
always mind your step..
keep your head down..
watch your step!
take care of yourself,
take care of you!
who cares about the others?
it's YOU that is important..
take care of your wellbeing,
take care of your image,
take care of your self esteem.
don't mind your surroundings,
don't mind the others,
they don't exist
don't talk to strangers!
they can hurt you!
it's so dangerous,
don't hang out,
come straight home..
you're not safe!
keep your head down
trust no one!
just keep walking!
don't look up!...
never look up!..
you might hit your head..
or trip and fall and break it.
these are the thoughts
we feed to the minds of the kids..
and then we ask ourselves..
"how did he grow up
to be like this??"
all the time, selfcentered..
all the time looking down
all the time it's all about
him or herself..
all the time..
afraid to look up!
scared..that if he would
let go..
and give up control..
everything would fall apart
never realising..that..
in the darkest night..
he could see
the brightest of the stars!
if he would only lift his head and
look up!
if you're tired of watching the ground
all the time..
raise up your eyes..
and watch the sky!
if you're tired of you
and your problems..
take a leap of faith..
and look up..
cause when the dark is
the thickest..
you can clearly see..
God.
